The Companion Animal Welfare Education Centre (CAWEC) is located in the Veterinary Faculty of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
CAWEC's objectives are:
Train veterinarians in the ethology of companion animals.
Train ATVs, dog educators and other professionals in the behavior and welfare of companion animals.
Educate owners about the behavior and welfare of their pets.
Carry out applied research projects in the field of behavior and welfare of companion animals.
Carry out specific training programs for companies related to small animal veterinary medicine.
How do we carry them out?
Information based on scientific evidence and practical application.
Teaching courses and seminars.
Publication of documents.
Design, fulfilment and monitoring of scientific studies.
CAWEC, together with FAWEC and ZAWEC, is part of AWEC (Animal Welfare Education Centre), which brings together veterinarians and other professionals with a recognized experience in animal welfare, both for pets, farm and zoo animals.
