Companion Animal Welfare Education Centre
The Companion Animal Welfare Education Centre (CAWEC) is located in the Veterinary Faculty of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
CAWEC's objectives are:
- Train veterinarians in the ethology of companion animals.
- Train ATVs, dog educators and other professionals in the behavior and welfare of companion animals.
- Educate owners about the behavior and welfare of their pets.
- Carry out applied research projects in the field of behavior and welfare of companion animals.
- Carry out specific training programs for companies related to small animal veterinary medicine.
How do we carry them out?
- Information based on scientific evidence and practical application.
- Teaching courses and seminars.
- Publication of documents.
- Design, fulfilment and monitoring of scientific studies.
CAWEC, together with FAWEC and ZAWEC, is part of AWEC (Animal Welfare Education Centre), which brings together veterinarians and other professionals with a recognized experience in animal welfare, both for pets, farm and zoo animals.
